Copyright Clash: Journalist Battles Lawyer Over Article Sharing

DUBLIN, IRELAND (August 11, 2025) — A copyright dispute has emerged between Robert Cox, a journalist who owns the subscription-based website “Words in Edgewise,” and attorney Lalit K. Loomba and The Quinn Law Firm, PLLC, according to court documents filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The case, Cox v. Loomba, centers on an article Cox published titled “My Response to Lawfare by Dawn Warren, Adam Salgado, and the City of New Rochelle” on January 6, 2025.

Cox alleges that Loomba, who subscribed to “Words in Edgewise” on or about January 6, 2025, converted the article to PDF, saved it and sent it via email to Dawn Warren and Adam Salgado, two City of New Rochelle employees, and to lawyers at his firm without permission. Cox knows of the distribution because Loomba included him in the email.
