Copyright Clash Over Warren & Salgado Legal Threats

DUBLIN, IRELAND (August 4, 2025) — A legal battle is brewing between Robert Cox, a pro se plaintiff and owner of the subscription-based website “Words in Edgewise,” and attorney Lalit K. Loomba and The Quinn Law Firm, PLLC, according to a letter filed on August 1, 2025. The defendants notified Cox of their intent to file a motion to dismiss a copyright infringement claim in the case Cox v. Loomba, case number 7:25-cv-04531-PMH, pending in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

The dispute centers on an article titled “My Response to Lawfare by Dawn Warren, Adam Salgado, and the City of New Rochelle,” published by Cox on January 6, 2025, on his website. The complaint alleges that Loomba, who purchased a subscription to “Words in Edgewise” on or about the same day, saved the article and shared it with two colleagues at The Quinn Law Firm and two employees of the City of New Rochelle. Cox filed for copyright registration of the article with the United States Copyright Office on May 26, 2025.
