NEW ROCHELLE, NY (September 18, 2025) — Tuesday night’s New Rochelle City Council meeting was a masterclass in missed opportunities—about an hour of it, to be precise. Tucked into the agenda as a “Discussion Item,” Councilmember David Peters’ push for $200,000 in city funding for the Boys & Girls Club (with the lion’s share earmarked for the Remington branch in his District 3) devolved into a spectacle of frustration, finger-pointing, and procedural foot-faults. The full video is here. The discussion kicks off at the 8:10 mark and goes to the end of the meeting at the 1:05:17 mark.

No one at the council table outright opposed it—support for the Clubs’ mission is generally bipartisan. But Peters’ presentations unraveled faster than a cheap sweater under basic scrutiny, exposing not just a half-baked proposal, but a deeper flaw in how he communicates: a verbal tic that turns simple ideas into labyrinthine monologues.

Let’s start with the proposal itself, because even crayon-scrawled napkin notes deserve a fair shake.
