DUBLIN, IRELAND (June 1, 2025) — I’m pressing forward with my lawsuit against attorney Lalit K. Loomba and The Quinn Law Firm for copyright infringement. The U.S. Southern District of New York assigned a docket number, and my complaint is now uploaded to ECF. By next week, I’ll pay the $405 filing fee next week and serve the defendants. Loomba converted my January 6, 2025, article into a PDF and emailed it to work colleagues, and his clients, New Rochelle’s Corporation Counsel Dawn Warren, and Development Commissioner Adam Salgado. If I uncover further distribution, I’ll amend the lawsuit to include others, potentially implicating City Hall officials.

Loli and I went to see the Irish National Opera production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore (The Elixir of Love) at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin on Thursday.

It was a madcap spectacle, featuring a vibrant chorus populated by an eclectic mix of characters: Laurel and Hardy, Abraham Lincoln (who sat in the “presidential box” in the balcony), Calamity Jane, the couple from Grant Wood’s American Gothic. Nemorino (Duke Kim) was dressed as Woody from Toy Story with “Adina” instead of “Andy” on the bottom of his boot. Occasionally, characters broke the 4th wall — departing from Italian to English.

Adina (Claudia Boyle) wore a series of costumes inspired by Gone with the Wind — one particular outfit—a green dress—stood out as a nod to a famous comedic moment from The Carol Burnett Show.“Went with the Wind.” In that sketch, Carol Burnett, playing Scarlett O’Hara, wears a dress made from green curtains, complete with the curtain rod still attached. When Harvey Korman’s character, Ratt Butler, comments, “That gown is gorgeous,” Burnett’s Scarlett quips, “Thank you. I saw it in the window, and I just couldn’t resist it.” I asked afterwards and found the mostly Irish opera goer’s did not know about Carol Burnett so missed the joke.
