The Grand-Place (or Grote Markt in Dutch) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Brussels, Belgium.

This briefing draws from reporting at Talk of the Sound, analysis and commentary published in Words in Edgewise, and selected regional coverage for the week ending June 21, 2026.

A Note from the Publisher

I spent most of the past week with my wife in Belgium, then Friday night we were at Croke Park for the URC Rugby Championship at where Leinster defeated a team from South Africa. As a result, story production was reduced.

We went to Brussels to see back-to-back shows by Jack White at Ancienne Belgique, a small venue in Brussels.

We took a tour at the European Parliament.

We enjoyed Moule Frites, Famous Statue. Cuban Cigar, Tintin Mural, Belgian Waffles, Smurf Ceiling Mural, Belgian Beer, Belgian Chocolate.

Below is this week’s structured briefing.
