The Documentary Avalanche: When Sources Want a Reporter, Not Reporting
DUBLIN, IRELAND (June 11, 2026) — A few days after I wrote about Dante Hyndman and the challenges reporters face when sources mistake allegations for news, another example landed in my WhatsApp messages.
The source was Andrew Grossberg.
Like many people who contact reporters, Grossberg was convinced he had uncovered something important. Maybe he has. Maybe he hasn’t. At this stage, I honestly do not know. What I do know is that before I understood what he was alleging, he had sent 117 pages of PDFs, multiple YouTube videos and Shorts, medical photographs, probate records, court docket screenshots, WhatsApp messages and assorted images embedded in chats.
The first thing Grossberg sent me was not a story. It was a box.
