Words in Edgewise News Roundup - December 14, 2025
Finally got my turntable to Ireland last month after 3 years without so I’ve been loading up on vinyl, mostly out of Germany, Sweden and Ireland. Will scoop up more on next USA trip.

DUBLIN, IRELAND (December 14, 2025) — I decided to rename the newsletter. I was going to hold off until the New Year but what the heck. I got a bit backed up with the Article 78 so did not work on the newsletter on Sunday per usual so forgive the delay (my lawsuit against the City took precedence).

My Article 78 against the City of New Rochelle and City Manager over their stonewalling of the Bob Young Proposal for Flowers Park is now filed with a judge assigned so let’s get it on.

FOIL Battle: Journalist Sues New Rochelle Over Flowers Park Redevelopment Bid

Thank goodness for the patience of the folks at the Westchester County Clerk’s Office. You know who you are!!! They know I made every possible mistake that could be made. I can’t think of one I didn’t make. From not breaking up the exhibits into separate pieces, to not knowing what PDF/A is or why it’s important and having to figure out how I could make a PDF/A document on a mobile phone when Adobe Acrobat Pro mobile deprecated that feature. I needed forms like a Notice of Petition and RJI Request. I needed the language for an affirmation so that I didn’t need to have my petition notarized, which would be a problem being in Ireland. I had to figure out what boxes to check in each of the forms. I had to do the same when I was on the website. There were so many other things that were new to me. I screwed up each at least once and quite a few much more than that. The website was glitching on me which was not always my fault but was sorted once I verified every PDF as PDF/A and switched to Google Chrome browser. It took me many hours over 3 days to figure this all out then how to get everything loaded and properly submitted and paid for and more. But now I know. And that was after writing the actual petition and gathering the exhibits.

The City of New Rochelle may have made a big mistake — motivating me to figure all this out. I can tell you this for sure: my next article 78 filing will take a small fraction of the time. Now that I know how to do it you can expect more. In layman’s terms this is called FAFO.

I reorganized my 8 Rob Rubicco stories and add a few more. I will be adding to that soon.

Let me leave it lay there.

Skim the links below, lots of nuggets in there.

SMOKING GUN: New Rochelle City Manager’s Shifting Story on Flowers Park Bid Collapses Under Developer’s Own “Return Everything” Letter

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (December 5, 2025) — A November 20, 2025 letter from the attorney representing the sole bidder on New Rochelle’s withdrawn Flowers Park redevelopment project directly contradicts City Manager Will Melendez’s latest claim that the city never surrendered the original proposal.
