New Rochelle School District Refuses to Answer Questions About Inducting a Convicted Felon into the NRHS Hall of Fame
DUBLIN, IRELAND (July 15, 2026) — I do not understand why I am not getting a response.
On June 27 I emailed the district with straightforward questions about the New Rochelle High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. Four people had just been inducted after a five-year hiatus. One of them was Craig Carton, who in 2017 was arrested by the FBI and in 2018 pleaded guilty to federal securities fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy charges and served prison time.
The district’s own criteria say inductees must “model high standards of excellence in personal and professional life.” I asked how the committee weighed that conviction against those standards.
I also asked about the hiatus, why the public page doesn’t list past inductees with photos and bios, and whether this Hall of Fame is the same as the old physical “Wall of Fame” from which Ray Rice’s photo and plaque were removed in 2014.
I gave them a Monday deadline. I followed up on June 30 and said I’d still prefer to get answers from them even if I had to publish first. On July 15 — with zero response — I told them I was moving forward with a FOIL.
Here’s what happened:
