DUBLIN, IRELAND (July 28, 2024) — I am back in Dublin after a lovely but exhausting trip to Scotland to see the British Open (or as it is called here just The Open), and visits to Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Balmoral Castle. If you take a trip like I did, especially Edinburgh, be sure to bring good walking shoes or hiking boots — it’s quite hilly.

I needed a rest, so I spent the week completing an involved four-part series that I have been preparing for about 10 months — a deep dive into how Noam Bramson became the Executive Director of Sustainable Westchester.

It is “done” but very long. I want to let readers be able to process it, so I will publish one part every other day on weekdays starting Monday. Part I will be free to the public, Parts II and III will be for paid subscribers only, and Part IV which will get into the actual negotiations that led to the final employment agreement will be for Premium subscribers. I can say with confidence that quite a few people will be amazed at what took place. The folks at Sustainable Westchester are in for a shock. I think law enforcement will need to take a look.

Investigation into the death of Jarrell Garris

Word around 475 North Avenue is that a decision is coming soon from the New York State Attorney General of the office-involved shooting of Jerrell Garris. I fully expect the decision will be that it was a justified shooting. The report will include two key elements: (1) a toxicology screen, which I expect will show Garris had ingested PCP and was likely experiencing a psychotic episode. He has a history of such behaviors in New Rochelle and Mount Vernon; (2) as for being shot because he ate a banana and some grapes, it appears far more likely Garris was shot because he once again violently resisted arrest, injuring officers, this time grabbing the holster of an officer’s gun, all while high on PCP, having just committed a string of crimes including entering a woman’s apartment at Heritage Homes, stealing from her, firestarting outside a home on Winthrop Avenue with the family still inside, and, finally, the theft of water bottles and strawberries (not a banana or grapes) from a grocery store on North Avenue.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

There are many media outlets, a Mayor, a Councilmember and quite a few speakers at last July’s Citizens to be Heard who I doubt less are going to have egg all over their faces for their uncritical reporting and the embrace of nonsensical conspiracy theories and peddling of misinformation. I am most certain that even if the AG report contradicts them, these people will continue to believe they had it right.
