New Rochelle School Board Calls Vision 2030 Community Input “Early” More Than a Year After Initiative Began
DUBLIN, IRELAND (October 25, 2026) — The New Rochelle Board of Education has released a new flyer promoting community participation in Vision 2030, its initiative to rethink how the City School District of New Rochelle organizes its schools and delivers educational services. The flyer promises transparency, emphasizes that no decisions have been made and encourages residents to participate in an online survey before a November 11 deadline.
There is a notable problem with the district’s claim that it is seeking community input “early before the concepts are fully formed.” Vision 2030 began more than a year ago, during which the Board generated 31 ideas, narrowed its public discussion to a handful of proposals and missed its original timetable for community engagement. It has never publicly accounted for what happened to the original ideas or explained how the proposals now being promoted were selected. Since the last board discussion of Vision 2030, one of the most noteworthy ideas has been silently removed from the “engagement flyer” and online survey.
Now, after more than a year of Board discussions, residents are being invited to participate in what the district describes as the “kick-off” phase of community input. The survey closes Nov. 11, and aggregated results are scheduled to be presented at the Nov. 17 Board meeting.
Early compared with what?
