Why is New Rochelle Firing Teachers While Spending Millions on Illegal Private School Placements?
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (April 18, 2025) — I’ve spent nearly a year uncovering how the City School District of New Rochelle, led by Superintendent Dr. Corey Reynolds and Board President William Iannuzzi, illegally funneled over $3.3 million in state funds to place four autistic students at Shrub Oak International School, a lavish, non-state-approved private therapeutic school in Mohegan Lake. Now, I’m hitting a wall of obstruction as I try to dig deeper into this scandal through Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) requests, and it’s clear the district doesn’t want the public to know the full cost of their actions with the approach of the school budget vote on May 20, 2025.
